The Korean pine is a winterproof nut tree that grows well in acidic soils and thrives in cold climates (zone 2). Its nut, the pine nut, is often used in salads and to make pesto sauce.

These seedlings are 3 years old at 4-6 inches in height.

Korean pine trees are naturally slow-growing for their first five or so years, after which they start to grow more quickly.

They can grow to impressive heights, reaching 30 metres (90 feet) at maturity, with a spread of 8 metres. However, the tree will take a considerable number of years to reach its maximum height. In 20 years, as shown in this illustration, you can expect it to reach approximately 6 metres in height.
